Remove
the front bolt holding the factory air box |
Remove
the rear bolt holding the factory air box |
Squeeze
rubber intake hose and pull from air box |
Carefully
remove air box, make note of vacuum line attached to box, disconnect
from clips on box |
 |
 |
 |
 |
 |
| This
is the vacuum line for the dual stage air intake runner... |
It
leads to a vacuum reservoir with an electrical solenoid attached to it -
disconnect this line. |
You
will see that there is another line attached to the reservoir and runs to
the intake manifold - disconnect this line at the intake manifold, put
vacuum cap on intake manifold port |
Unbolt
and Remove the reservoir and bracket, it should now look like this |
On
the passenger side fender, remove the lens and remove the bolt behind
the lens |
 |
 |
 |
 |
 |
| Remove
the bolt and panel clip from the fender well area |
From
underneath, remove the bolts and panel clips |
Pull
the plastic section loose from the inner side of the car first and then
pull the fender panel back |
Remove
the front bolt from the lower portion of the resonator box |
Remove
the rear bolt from the lower portion of the resonator box |

 |
| Remove
the resonator box, feed the vacuum line from the reservoir through while
removing |
You
should be here by now. |
This
is where the factory intake went through. We will need to enlarge this.
You can use an air saw, air nibbler, or tin snips to do this |
Touch
up the area you cut with some color-match touch up paint. You can slit
some vacuum hose to go around the hole for protection and decoration |
Remove
the "horseshoe" from the engine. Remove the one side that goes
to the valve cover, the other was remove when we pulled out the
intake. |
 |
 |
 |
 |
 |
| Follow
coolant lines 1 and 2 back to where they connect to the engine and
throttle body - disconnect |
Use
small diameter coolant hose to connect the ends together. |
Put
pipe in car and select a suitable location for the bypass valve, mark
the spot where you will be cutting |
Use
template provided and tape in place. Use a suitable cutting device
(hacksaw) to cut pipe - Deburr the cut and wipe out intake making sure
there are no metal particles in intake |
Install
rubber isolator then install bypass valve and piping. Do not tighten
until all clearances are checked. Note: isolator should not be under any
tension. Slightly bend mounting tab on intake if needed. |
 |
 |
 |
 |
 |
| Check
to make sure pipe is centered in hole. If pipe has good clearance then
tighten clamps. |
Connect
large hose between valve cover and intake |
Remove
solenoid from resevoir and plug vacuum ports. |
Reconnect
solenoid to factory wiring harness, zip tie out of the way. |
It
should now look like this. |

|
| Install
filter onto intake pipe, check for clearance around filter,
tighten clamp |
Reassemble
fender liner and plastic panel. |
Verify
all connections then start engine and check for coolant leaks (top off
if necessary |
