This Page covers the 1987-1992 Toyota Supra Turbo. What follows is a list of recommended modifications for the MKIII. Your personal shopping list may differ but this will get you headed in the right direction with a minimal amount of fuss and maximum amount of enjoyment. Air intake system: 7-15 Horsepower K&N FIPK: Cleanable, reusable cotton gauze element, Million mile warranty, excellent product HKS SMF: Uses a low restriction foam filter media. Very slightly better flow than K&N but does not filter nearly as well. Replacement filters are $15 ea so you may want to consider this on a weekend only car.
Exhaust System: 15-25 Horsepower There are some good power gains to be made here, pick your cat-back system based on style, build quality, and price. HKS 75mm and 85mm (Drager) systems: The 75mm system will maintain the "stock" look but there is no stainless steel in the exhaust except the tips which makes it somewhat rust-prone in harsher climates. The 85mm (Drager) system features a stainless muffler but does include a 120mm tip. Greddy: The 80mm SP system has the same basic look as the Drager with the muffler being stainless as well but it does have a 130mm tip. Blitz: 80mm Nur-Spec is fully stainless steel which gives it the best quality of the bunch but since it is non-resonated, it is also the loudest. 115mm tip
Downpipe: 20-30 Horsepower HKS 75mm deletes the primary cat but has poor build quality and is considered the "budget modders" choice SVE 75mm which features a full 3" construction, better fitment and is available in T-304 stainless steel is the pipe of choice. It eliminates the stock primary cat and bolts up to the stock secondary cat. Dyno'd 25 HP and 20 lb/ft Torque at the wheels !
Hi-Flow Catalytic Converter: Random Technology 3" provides much better flow than stock but still keeps the car emissions legal. When used with the downpipe and exhausts listed above, gives a full 3" system from the turbo to the exhaust tip.
Power Slot Brake Rotors are a nice upgrade to the stock Rotors. They include slots (gas vents) to help eliminate gas build-up between the pads and rotors under heavy braking. The also keep a fresh edge on the brake pad which gives a better "bite" on initial braking. Not prone to cracking as with cross-drilled rotors. PBR/Axxis Metal Master Pads
